Etienne Capoue spent two years at Tottenham Hotspur and maintains his hatred for their North London rivals Arsenal.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Etienne Capoue is gearing up to face an old enemy this weekend.
Now at Watford, Capoue is getting ready for a clash with Arsenal as the Gunners visit Vicarage Road in a Premier League encounter tomorrow evening.
The Frenchman only faced Arsene Wenger’s side on two occasions during his two-year stint in Tottenham’s first-team squad after joining for £9 million from Toulouse in 2013.
But Capoue says that the hostility is already “in his blood” following his spell at Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham.
He told The Evening Standard: “From the first day I arrived at Tottenham they told me Arsenal is the enemy.”
“Do I want to beat them as much as ever? Yes. It’s in my blood now.”
The Hornets could struggle to beat in-form Arsenal, who haven’t lost in their last seven games in all competitions – six of those were victories.
Watford haven’t had a home game since the 6-0 demolition by Manchester City last month but the former Tottenham man seems determined to put that right against his ‘enemies’ tomorrow night.
Capoue only managed 24 Premier League games for the Lilywhites, before leaving for their fellow Londoners in 2015.
