Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Teddy Sheringham has named the Spurs winger that he wants to see more out of under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham Hotspur have started the season in frustrating manner with Ange Postecoglou’s side picking up four points from a possible nine with a tough-to-take defeat to Newcastle United and a draw to Leicester City.
An undeserved 2-1 defeat to Newcastle and a 1-1 draw against Leicester have meant that the start of the campaign has not been the desired one for Postecoglou.
Following that defeat to Newcastle, one player certainly made an impact: Welsh forward Brennan Johnson, who was the quickest to react to the error from Nick Pope to draw the Lilywhites level.

Teddy Sheringham keen to praise Brennan Johnson
It’s been a mixed time in North London for the former Nottingham Forest winger Johnson, but last weekend’s performance was a promising one.
Speaking to Football.London, former Tottenham forward Teddy Sheringham believes the Welsh winger has similar traits to that of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
“I’m expecting better performances from Brennan Johnson this season, more consistent performances,” Sheringham said.
“That’s what you expect from your players in their second season at the club,” he said. “I’m still not sure what his best position is. Is he a right winger? Is he a centre forward? I’m not really sure.”
“He’s a little bit like Marcus Rashford, in that he’s a player that plays wide, but you wouldn’t call him a winger because he doesn’t really get that many crosses into the box.”
Big season ahead for Brennan Johnson at Tottenham
With Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-Min the regular starters for Spurs, Johnson will have to take his chances from the bench when Postecoglou gives him them.
Johnson certainly made an impact for Spurs from the bench against Newcastle with his pace and trickery causing more problems for the Magpies as they were penned in at times trying to deal with wave after wave of Tottenham attack.
Whilst Spurs didn’t get the result they were looking for, Postecoglou will certainly be pleased with the level of performance that the Welshman put in at St James’ Park.
