Former Everton attacker Henry Onyekuru spoke to BBC Sport about his dream of playing in the Premier League one day.

The Nigerian joined Everton in the summer of 2017 but work permit issues cost him a chance to play in England.

Onyekuru went on loan to Anderlecht and Galatasaray before securing a permanent move to Monaco last summer. The exciting forward still dreams of a chance to play in the Premier League but admits that it might not be with Everton.

He said: “We have our plans but then life brings its own plans, but I am still working on it, and hopefully I will be back soon, maybe not with Everton but surely in the Premier League. I hope to make a good season or two and hopefully, the future will be bright.”

Everton could certainly do with a good winger in their squad. Alex Iwobi and Bernard have not been productive enough while Theo Walcott is the wrong side of 30 already.

Richarlison has been moved up top next to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which has created a big hole on both flanks.

Everton did manage to make a profit when they sold Onyekuru last summer. The Nigerian was a hot commodity having scored 16 goals for Galatasaray in Turkey.

Many felt that he could have been a good option for the Toffees this season but, sadly, that wasn’t to be.

Onyekuru might go on to become a star for Monaco and secure a big move to the Premier League. Everton will probably regret selling him if that happens but work permit issues meant that it was beyond their control.
