Danny Murphy has told TalkSport (12/10/20 at 11:30 am) that he would be ‘amazed’ if reported Everton and West Ham target Josh King doesn’t leave before Friday’s deadline.
Sky Sports have claimed that West Ham and Everton are rivalling one another for the Norway international, who was relegated with Bournemouth last season.
Former Liverpool midfielder shared that he played with King during his days at Blackburn and backed the ‘very confident’ player if he moves before Friday’s deadline.
“I like Josh,” Murphy told TalkSport. “I played with him during my last year at Blackburn. He came in there a bit raw. But great athleticism.
“He has grown into a very confident player. He has scored quite a lot of goals for Bournemouth during these last two seasons in the Prem.
“He can play wide as comfortably as he can through the middle. He’s been there and done it. It’s kind of a no-brainer [at that price]. For that money, I would be amazed if he doesn’t get the move that he wants during these next few days.”
It will be interesting to see who will push the boat out for King’s signature because it could be argued the player isn’t exactly a priority for either Everton and West Ham.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have made a 100% start to the season and adding someone of King’s experience and versatility to his ranks would make them more dangerous.
As for the Hammers, they are a little top-heavy in the final third, so it has to be questioned how far they will push for King given the preference would be to balance out the squad. But he’s not a player you would turn down.
