Shane Duffy’s Celtic move appears to have been confirmed by one of his former Republic of Ireland teammates.
According to The Daily Record, Duffy has agreed to join Celtic on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and will link up with the Bhoys on his return from international duty next week.
Neither Celtic nor Brighton have made an official announcement as yet but, posting on Twitter earlier on Tuesday, David Meyler wrote:
Meyler and Duffy played alongside one another on nine occasions for Ireland.
The former won the last of his 26 caps against Poland two years ago and retired from football altogether last summer, aged 30.
Duffy, who has represented his country on 33 occasions and counting, would be just the second Irish player in Celtic’s senior ranks, after the midfielder Luca Connell.
The 28-year-old Derry native was a regular during Brighton’s first two Premier League campaigns but saw his opportunities decrease under Graham Potter’s management last term.

His contract at the Amex Stadium still has three years left to run.
