Newcastle United were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at St. James’ Park last night.
Former Sunderland man Don Hutchison has slated Rafael Benitez’s tactics against Manchester City.
Benitez set up Newcastle in a very defensive system against City, particularly in the first half of the contest.

Newcastle packed 11 men behind the ball, and City eventually picked them off.
Raheem Sterling scored from close range to put City in front, but the Magpies still stayed camped out in their first half for much of the match.
And Hutchison felt that Benitez’s tactics were far too negative.
Mick Quinn also was frustrated with Benitez’s tactics, especially in the first-half.
Newcastle did show some attacking intent in the second period, and had a late chance through Dwight Gayle to grab an equaliser.
In the end it was not enough, as City picked up a comfortable 1-0 victory, but Quinn was at least slightly encouraged by Newcastle’s performance later on.
