Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic played out a controversial Old Firm at Parkhead, with Scott Brown courting criticism for his behaviour.

Gordon Dalziel has revealed to Clyde Superscoreboard that he saw Steven Gerrard’s Rangers staff celebrating their equaliser toward Celtic fans during Sunday’s fiery Old Firm derby.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has found himself in hot water for celebrating his side’s 2-1 win in front of the travelling Gers support at Parkhead last weekend.

Brown’s actions at full time sparked a melee between the Hoops and Rangers players, with Andy Halliday confronting the 33-year-old midfielder.

After the game, Gerrard defended Halliday and criticised the Celtic man for provoking the away support, but Dalziel claims that some of the light Blues staff celebrated Ryan Kent’s equaliser in front of the Bhoys fans, with the same gusto as Brown at full time.

He told Clyde Superscoreboard: “When the game finished, Scott Brown was at that end of the pitch, but let’s not be kidded here, he celebrated towards the Rangers fans as well.

“I’m not making excuses but when Rangers scored their equaliser, the full dugout was out and there were Rangers staff celebrating towards Celtic fans as well.”

Kent levelled up for Rangers midway through the second half, despite the fact that Gerrard’s side only had 10 men following Alfredo Morelos’s red card for an elbow on Brown.

But James Forrest slotted home a winner on 86 minutes to snatch the bragging rights as Celtic avenged a 1-0 defeat by the light Blues at Ibrox in December.

Brown had received a lot of criticism for his performance that day, so it seems plausible that his over-zealousness on Sunday stemmed from pride in proving a point.
