Jamie O’Hara fears Harry Kane will consider swapping Tottenham Hotspur for Manchester City if Jose Mourinho’s side miss out on Champions League qualification, speaking to talkSPORT (4 February, 9am).
If Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Brighton is anything to go by, a future without their home-grown hero doesn’t bear thinking about.
Spurs lacked any sort of attacking threat in the injury-enforced absence of a man who is not only their most lethal finisher but has evolved into Mourinho’s creative lynchpin this season.
In 29 games, Kane has produced a staggering 19 goals and 14 assists.
And, with Kane on the treatment table, Tottenham were outplayed and outfought by a well-drilled Brighton side. The usually irrepressible Son Heung-min looked “lost” – in O’Hara’s words – without his usual sparring partner.
A run of four defeats in eight matches means Tottenham have slipped to seventh in the table – albeit with two games in hand.
And O’Hara fears if Spurs can’t get their season back on track while Kane bids to recover from yet another ankle injury, a living legend will have to make a tough decision about his future at the end of the campaign.

“I think if Spurs finish outside the top four, Harry Kane is going to have a conversation with (chairman) Daniel Levy,” the former Tottenham midfielder says of the England international, who will turn 28 this year.
“He’s at the peak of his powers and could end up going past his sell-by date without winning a trophy.”
Manchester City have spent much of the season playing with a ‘false nine’ in Sergio Aguero’s continued absence.
Gabriel Jesus scored in last night’s 2-0 win at Burnley but has yet to convince he can carry the attacking can for Pep Guardiola’s team on a full-time basis.
With that in mind, O’Hara wouldn’t be surprised if Kane receives an offer from a club who look clear favourites to lift the Premier League title in May.
He said: “I think (Man City) might go for Harry Kane in the summer.”
