Darren Bent has admitted that he is ‘excited’ about the transfer business Arsenal have conducted so far during this summer window.

But the former striker claimed that he would feel ‘more comfortable’ if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were to sign a new deal, as he told talkSPORT (06/09/20 at 5:15 pm).

Arsenal have signed Willian on a free-transfer, snapped up Gabriel from Lille and also brought Dani Ceballos back to North London on a temporary basis.

Bent, who played for Tottenham during his career, is a boyhood Arsenal fan and he shared his thoughts on the work Mikel Arteta has done so far in the transfer market.

“I am [pleased with their business] to be fair,” Bent told talkSPORT. “The Willian one was the first one they got through the door and they have signed a defender.

“I am excited at what Arteta’s doing, at the minute. I still don’t think they can crack the top-four just yet. But I just think other teams are getting stronger around Arsenal. They are adding one or two additions.

“I mean Ceballos was a very good one. Getting him back on-loan. But I just think they need a little bit more. I would feel more comfortable if Aubameyang had signed yet.”

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

For once, Arsenal fans have something to smile about because Arteta has showcased that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It has been a pretty long ride in the dark for those in North London, but it seems Arteta has found a route to where they want to go, and he’s now also being aided by those in the boardroom.

If that continues then their FA Cup win last season, and their Community Sheild triumph, might not be the only domestic honours that the former midfielder brings to the table next season.
