Ex-Rangers youngster Liam Burt has signed for Celtic.
Celtic have been focusing on first-team additions so far this summer, but they’ve now added a player for their development squad.
The Bhoys will be looking to win the SPFL Reserve League this season, having only finished second behind rival Rangers last season.
Boss Tommy McIntyre has been handed a couple of talents lately, with Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi and Rosenborg left back Leo Hjelde joining the Bhoys this summer.
Now, Celtic have made another similar deal – and this time, it’s a little more controversial than the other signings, as Liam Burt has joined the club.
Burt has come up through the ranks with Old Firm rivals Rangers, and few players make the jump from one side of the rivalry to the other.
Burt, 20, was once touted for stardom, but stagnated at Rangers before being released earlier this summer, and he has been training with Celtic for weeks now.
What’s fascinating is that, according to 2015 reports from The Scottish Sun, Burt actually rejected an offer to join Celtic, instead choosing to stay with Rangers.
The midfielder has now completed his move to Parkhead, signing a two-year deal – and he’ll be hoping to prove Rangers wrong for letting him go.
