Former Glasgow Rangers striker Lawrence Shankland has nothing but positive things to say about playing at Ibrox.
Lawrence Shankland has told The Scottish Sun that Ibrox sends a shiver down his spine when the former Rangers man was asked to name his favourite stadium that he has played at during his career.
Shankland is attracting a lot of attention after an outstanding season in the Championship with Ayr, scoring 33 goals in 38 appearances for the league leaders this term.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, the 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season. And given his form, it would be little surprise if he was headed for the Scottish Premiership.
If he did end up securing a move to the top flight, he may end up getting the chance to play against Rangers at some stage in the near future. And for the former Gers forward, that may prove a special experience as he admitted that he is yet to experience anything like playing at the Light Blues’ home.
“Ibrox when it’s full is always some experience,” he told The Scottish Sun when asked to name his favourite stadium to play at.
“Just walking out the tunnel to the noise always gives you shivers down your spine, it’s a great feeling.”
Given his form and his affection for the club, there are likely to be a number of supporters who would like to see Steven Gerrard implore the Rangers board to make their own move for Shankland once he is a free agent in the summer.
He would have a big task on his hands to move ahead of the likes of Kyle Lafferty, Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos. But after scoring well over 30 goals already this season, perhaps landing him on a free transfer would prove to be an inspired piece of business from the Gers.
