Craig Moore, who played for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers, remains excited about Celtic youngster Daniel Arzani.
Rangers legend Craig Moore has told The World Game he believes that Celtic have signed a ‘very good’ player in Daniel Arzani.
The 19-year-old attacker joined Celtic on a two-year loan deal from Manchester City, but he is yet to play for the Hoops’ senior side.
Arzani, who has five caps for Australia, impressed on international duty this week and the pressure is on Rodgers – who has revealed his plans to ease him into action – to give his young winger a chance.
And Moore, who won five Scottish Premiership titles with Rangers and played over 50 times for the Socceroos, admits that the Bhoys have a real talent on their hands.
He told The World Game: “(The fact he hasn’t broken through yet) is a talking point because we know how talented Daniel is. We’ve been excited by what we’ve seen in his breakthrough season at Melbourne City and that flowed on with the minutes he had at the World Cup.
“He’s in a process of adapting to a new country, a new style, a new tempo, new teammates and a new climate. I had a lot of time to develop at Rangers and a lot of reserve matches before I even broke into the first team.
“Then you look at Tommy Rogic and the same type of things were said early doors about him during his time at Celtic. He’s done really well there and Celtic have a very good player on their hands.”
Arzani can play on both wings as well as a number 10 role, but time will tell what sort of position Rodgers is planning for him.
Scott Sinclair has had a difficult start to the season on the left-hand side of attack, scoring just the once, and you wonder if the Northern Irish manager could be tempted to swap Sinclair with Arzani at some point in the near future if the veteran isn’t cutting it.
Rodgers’s side host Hibernian at Parkhead this afternoon.
