What a character Bilel Mohsni is.
The Tunisian international may not be the biggest name around, but he has become a well-known figure to many.
His rise started in 2010 with a move to Southend United, where he scored 18 times in 62 games, splitting time between playing at centre back and as a striker.
In 2013, Mohsni landed his big move to Rangers. His goal record there was decent, scoring 11 times in 44 outings, but he left under a cloud.
Mohsni memorably kicked and punched Lee Erwin after Motherwell had beaten Rangers in the promotion/relegation play-off second leg, receiving a seven-mach ban.
Rangers didn’t really mind all that much; it was his final game for the club anyway, as his two-year deal with the club came to an end.
So where is Mohsni now? Well, he’s been on a bizarre path with Angers, Paris FC, Etoile du Sahel, Dundee United and Panachaiki, failing to really settle anywhere before returning to England with Grimsby Town in August.
Just one appearance later, Mohsni is once again caught up in a strange situation. Grimsby boss Ian Holloway told the Grimsby Telegraph just days ago that he ‘shouldn’t have signed’ Mohsni, admitting that he got it wrong.
Holloway claimed that Mohsni had been let go, but the defender then took to Twitter to claim he would still be turning up to training.
Holloway now believes the situation hasn’t been resolved between club and player, meaning Mohsni is still around the club and training despite Holloway having no plans for him.
Rangers fans likely aren’t surprised to hear Mohsni is involved in some sort of controversy, but this one could rumble on.
