Josh Windass has taken to Twitter to speak to Rangers fans – and discussed a host of topics ahead of today’s Old Firm derby with Celtic.

The Gers head into the first Old Firm derby of the season today as they face Celtic at Parkhead, having received a major boost with Europa League qualification on Thursday night with an aggregate win over FC Ufa.

Steven Gerrard will take on his former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers in a game filled with intrigue, especially as Rangers have enjoyed a hugely encouraging summer under Gerrard’s management.

Part of that summer has seen Rangers overhaul their squad, with 14 signings and 21 departures, either on loan or permanently, and one of the players to leave Ibrox has been speaking to Gers fans on Twitter.

Forward Josh Windass was sold to Wigan Athletic earlier this month after two years with the club, with one of his last Old Firm memories being scoring against Celtic at Ibrox in March.

Windass tweeted last night that he can’t wait for today’s Old Firm clash, and offered his prediction, suggesting that Rangers could land a 1-1 draw if they go into half time at 0-0, but if they concede early, it could be a long afternoon for Gerrard’s men.

Some slammed Windass for not predicting a Rangers win, claiming that’s why he’s not with the club anymore, but Windass noted that it was his decision to leave after Wigan’s bid was accepted, and Gerrard didn’t make the final call.

Windass also looked at the team Gerrard will pick, predicting that Kyle Lafferty will play on the left of a front three alongside Alfredo Morelos and Daniel Candeias, leaving Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent out of the side.

Some want James Tavernier on the right of midfield, but Windass suggests there is no chance and he will play in defence with NIkola Katic, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic in front of the back four, whilst Ryan Jack – Rangers’ best player this season according to Windass – would play in midfield with Ovie Ejaria and Scott Arfield.
