Ex- Portugal international Carlos Xavier has made the bold claim that Tottenham target Pedro Porro is the best right-back in Europe alongside Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Man City’s Joao Cancelo.
Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed in a report that Spurs director Fabio Paratici is a “fan” of Porro.
Gold also added that Tottenham hold a strong interest in signing the Portuguese defender.
It was reported by AS that Antonio Conte’s side were preparing a £26.2 million bid to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting.
Clearly, the club need a brand-new right wing-back and badly.
Emerson Royal has been one of the most underwhelming players across the division in his second season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As for Djed Spence, it remains a mystery why he has been so underutilised by Antonio Conte.
While Matt Doherty is yet to put up a campaign worth being a regular starter in a Tottenham shirt since being brought in by Jose Mourinho.
And now, the club’s latest target to bolster the position has earned the ultimate compliment.
Ex-Portugal international says Tottenham target Pedro Porro is right up there with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo

Former Portugal international, Carlos Xavier has boldly stated that Tottenham target Pedro Porro is the best right-back in Europe, alongside Liverpool and Man City mainstays, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo.
“He [Pedro Porro] is really a player with such intensity and intelligence that I believe he is one of the best in Europe, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo.”
“He is really a player who has a margin of progression ahead of him. I have no doubt at all that could be the future full-back for the Spanish national team”, he told Portuguese outlet Bancada.
Tottenham should go all out to get Porro deal over the line
While Carlos Xavier’s take may be controversial, what is not is the fact that Tottenham could do with a player like Pedro Porro to say the least.
With Porro’s attacking tendencies making him ideal to be deployed at right wing-back, he would be tailor-made in Antonio Conte’s system.
Only time will tell whether Tottenham sign the ex-Man City star who has already been compared to the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo.
