Former Leicester City defender Dennis Gyamfi is on his way to Dinamo Zagreb despite apparent interest from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, as reported by the Leicester Mercury.
While Calvin Bassey did make the trip from the East Midlands to the blue half of Glasgow over the summer, arriving to provide some much-needed competition for assist-machine Borna Barisic on the left side of Gerrard’s defence, it seems Gyamfi will not be following in his footsteps after all.
The Daily Record claimed back in June that Rangers were keen on the promising youngster.
But with Scotland’s runaway leaders putting their faith instead in a homegrown right-back – the exciting Jamie Patterson – Gyamfi will now look elsewhere in pursuit of first-team football.
The Mercury believes that the Croatian champions will be his destination.
Gyamfi underwent a medical with Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday and was expected to put pen to paper over the weekend.

Interestingly, Zagreb cruised through their Europa League group and could conceivably come up against Leicester or Rangers in the knockout stages.
Patterson caught the eye on a rare first-team outing for the Gers in their 2-0 triumph over Lech Poznan on Thursday while, in 16-goal James Tavernier, arguably the most in-form right-back in Europe is plying his trade in Ibrox currently.
