The former Everton goalkeeper will be a free agent once his Norwich contract expires, with the Canaries revealing he won’t be renewing.

Ex Norwich City boss Alex Neil believes that his former goalkeeper John Ruddy will have no problems finding a club in the Premier League following his impending release from the Canaries, he told talkSPORT and reported by the Eastern Daily Press.

30-year-old Ruddy made 238 appearances for Norwich in all competitions over a seven year spell, and even represented England once in that time, but the club felt it was best to let him go once his contract expires.

29 of those 238 appearances came this season, with Ruddy displaying some unusually inconsistent form throughout the campaign – in the sense he could be imperious one week, yet rather shaky the next.

Despite that however, Neil – who was sacked by Norwich in March – believes that Ruddy won’t be short of offers across the board, but has belief that there will be Premier League teams who will weigh up taking a punt on the 30-year-old given he won’t cost anything.

“I think John will be in demand,” Neil said to talkSPORT as reported by the Eastern Daily Press. “It won’t surprise me if John ends up in the Premier League somewhere.

“It is rare you get someone like John who is going to be a free transfer and I would be pretty confident he will be able to get himself sorted.”

Upon their return to the Championship, Norwich finished eighth – which may not sound too bad in the grand scheme of things, but considering they were relegated the year before and ended up 10 points behind sixth placed Fulham, few Norwich fans will say it was a successful campaign.

As for Neil, the former Hamilton Academicals and Norwich manager is yet to find work since his sacking, but indicated to talkSPORT as reported by the Eastern Daily Press that he’s very much looking for a return to management.
