Former NFL kicker for the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons, Jay Feely, has won his Arizona primary election following the backing of Donald Trump.
The President of the United States has made the news a lot over recent weeks in the world of sport.
Trump’s heavy involvement in the World Cup has caused a lot of controversy following the Folarin Balogun suspension U-turn.
His involvement is often seen to overstep the mark on a number of occasions, but this time it was in his own field of politics.
Feely secured victory in the Arizona 1st District with a 49.4%-35.2% winning margin over his nearest rival.
Having landed the win, Feely took the opportunity to name drop Trump as he made it clear he had the backing of the president.
Who is Jay Feely?
The 50-year-old former NFL kicker played for six different teams across his 14-year career.
Having started his career with the Atlanta Falcons back in 2001, Feely went on to also play for the Giants, the Miami Dolphins, the Jets, the Arizona Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
It was in Atlanta and Arizona where he spent the longest stints of his career, having played for both teams for four seasons each.
Whilst playing for Arizona, Feely scored his career long field goal kick, which was a 61-yard hit against the Buffalo Bills in 2012.
Having recorded an 82.6% field goal success rate (332-402), Feely hung up his boots after the 2014 season in Chicago.
Following work in the media with ESPN, Feely entered the world of politics in 2025 and has since earned the backing of Trump.

Trump’s power has already shown the results it can achieve this summer following his phone call with FIFA president Gianni Infantino during the World Cup.
Having the president’s backing certainly will have earned Feely some extra support during his campaign in Arizona.
“Who can call [Trump] and who can get him to answer? That’s me,” Feely said.
“He will take my call and he will listen. I have the ability to have the ear of the president.”
Trump provided Feely with his backing in January, and the results were evident following his victory in the Arizona 1st District.
