Newcastle United continue to impress, despite the odd blip in form.
Newcastle United Manager Rafa Benitez
Former Newcastle defender Darren Peacock spoke exclusively to the Chronicle, and offered high praise for the job being done by Rafa Benitez, highlighting the connection between players and fans as a key to their impressive form.
The Magpies currently sit third in the Championship table, and three points behind league leaders Huddersfield Town after 11 games played.
Peacock, who spent four years at St James’ Park, making 133 league appearances, explained how there is now a genuine connection between the Toon Army and Newcastle players, as quoted by the Chronicle:

“The game against Norwich was amazing and you could see how the players reacted, what it meant to them and to the fans, and that’s just from the images. It certainly showed the connection that is now there between the players and the fans and I can only imagine what the atmosphere was like.”
The turnaround against Norwich City, highlighted by Peacock, is the kind of result that can change the course of a season, and Newcastle fans will be hoping that is precisely the affect it has on their side’s campaign.

The point that Peacock refers to, regarding the connection between players and fans, is a crucial one, and has been something that has hampered the Magpies form in previous seasons, when the Geordie faithful have been known to quickly turn on their side when things are not going the way they expect.
Next up for Benitez’ men is a home game against Brentford, and a victory could take them to the summit of the Championship table, if other results go their way.
