Tottenham defender DeAndre Yedlin has joined Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur full back DeAndre Yedlin has completed a move to Newcastle United today, with Warren Barton wishing the player luck.
Yedlin, 23, was signed by Spurs two years ago having flashed ability in cameo appearances for the United States national team during the 2014 World Cup, but his Tottenham career has never really taken off.

With Kyle Walker thriving under Mauricio Pochettino, and Spurs signing Kieran Trippier from Burnley last summer, Yedlin was dropped down to third choice at White Hart Lane, and he was shipped off on loan to Sunderland.
The young right back featured 25 times for the Black Cats, and having returned to North London, Yedlin is now heading back to the North East having signed for Newcastle earlier today.

Having lost Daryl Janmaat to Watford, Magpies boss Rafael Benitez has moved to secure Yedlin on a five-year contract, and the former Seattle Sounders star will now compete with fellow summer signing Jesus Gamez for a starting role in the Newcastle team.
The move has excited many Newcastle fans, given Yedlin’s pace and potential, and a former Magpies right back has offered his thoughts on the move as well.

Warren Barton, who made more than 150 appearances for Newcastle, took to Twitter to suggest that Yedlin is a good player, making it a good move for Newcastle to bring him in.
Barton also wished Yedlin the best of luck on Tyneside, and even brought up and old tweet from 2014, where he wanted Yedlin to sign for Newcastle of the back of his performances at the 2014 World Cup.
