Former Millwall coach Joe Gallen has been talking about the impact Harry Kane had at the club during his loan spell in 2012.

Speaking to The Guardian, Gallen said he has not seen a player practice as much as the Spurs forward in two decades of coaching.

Kane scored nine goals on loan for Millwall, seven in league competition as he helped them avoid relegation.

Gallen said: “In my 20 years of coaching, I’ve never seen a player practise as much as Harry. He’d literally have to be chucked off the training pitch.

“Kenny [Jackett] would be watching from his office and he’d say: ‘Joe, you’ve got to come in. He’s going to pull his quad, here.’ I’d say to Harry: ‘Come on, we’ve got to go. Kenny’s going to kill me.’ And Harry would be annoyed.

Kane’s practice has well and truly paid off. After two more brief loan spells at Norwich and Leicester, he has established himself as Tottenham and England’s number one striker.

He won the Golden Boot last season and is on course to do so again this campaign.

Millwall have their work cut out when they face him this weekend at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup quarter-final, with Kane in ruthless form.
