Former Manchester United player David May claimed that Jesse Lingard is a better player than Tottenham star Dele Alli, when speaking exclusively to MUTV.
Lingard, 25, has really impressed for the Red Devils this season, chalking up 13 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions thus far, but to suggest that he is better than Dele Alli is quite the claim.
After earning rave reviews during the 2016/17 campaign, Spurs ace Dele has received criticism from some sections of the media this season, but he has still produced impressive numbers, with 13 goals and 17 assists to his name in 46 outings thus far.
May, though, believes that United play-maker Lingard is a better player than the Tottenham star, highlighting the United ace’s on field attitude as something that sets him apart from the Lilywhites youngster.
“People are going on about this Dele Alli being a superstar. I’ll tell you what, Jesse is better than him. He is not petulant, he doesn’t act like a big kid, doesn’t dive around and he is just a normal lad who works his socks off for his team.”
Both players will surely be part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer, and there will be no bigger stage for either one of them to prove just how good they really are.
