Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves predicts Newcastle United to lose to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Owen Hargreaves has told BT Sport that he expects Newcastle United to lose their final game of the season on Sunday.
Relegation-threatened Newcastle will take on West Ham United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
The Magpies are 17th in the league table at the moment with 36 points from 37 matches, just two points above third-from-bottom Hull City and one behind Sunderland, who have a game in hand.
John Carver’s side have lost nine of their last 10 league matches, and former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves believes that they will fail to win against the Hammers.
“I feel sorry for Newcastle fans,” the 34-year-old said on the Football Tonight show on BT Sport on Monday. “They are such a proud and beautiful football club, and it’s such a shame what it has really come to.
“You wouldn’t put it past Big Sam going there and getting a result. I fancy West Ham to go there and get a result…
“You just can’t see Newcastle winning a game at the moment. They are as bad a side as you have seen in a very long, long time.”
West Ham are also struggling for points at the moment and have virtually nothing to play for, but one suspects that the London outfit will be determined to win at St. James’ Park.
Current Hammers manager Sam Allardyce will also want to get a result at his former club Newcastle.
However, the Newcastle fans could prove to be key for the hosts. If the supporters get behind the team, then there is a very good chance that they will win.
Based on recent performances, it is indeed hard to see the Newcastle players stepping up and raising their game, but Carver will certainly be pushing them for one last try.
