Former Manchester United defender David May prefers Tottenham Hotspur youngster Harry Kane to Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
Former Manchester United defender David May has said on BT Sport’s Football Tonight show that he would rather have Harry Kane than Olivier Giroud in his team.
Both Kane and Giroud have been in good form in recent weeks, helping Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal maintain their respective challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
“Both are in great form, but I would go for Harry Kane,” May told BT Sport’s Football Tonight show on Monday when asked who he would rather have on his team: Kane or Giroud. “He has been fantastic this season.”
As the following Opta Stats table shows, Kane has been better than Giroud so far this campaign, although one needs to consider the fact that the latter has struggled with injuries.

Based on current form and this season’s performance, Kane is certainly the player to have in one’s team, but the importance and quality of Giroud cannot be undermined.
There is a reason why Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger prefers to play the France international down the middle to doing the same with 2014 summer signing Danny Welbeck.
Moreover, Giroud has proved over the years that he is a Premier League-standard player, while Kane is only just bursting onto the scene.
