Manchester United overpowered Wolverhampton Wanderers during their recent Premier League clash.

With Ruben Amorim’s side in search of a much-needed win to improve their position in the Premier League standings, it was captain Bruno Fernandes who led the team by example.

The Portuguese midfielder dictated the game by scoring a brace and assisting Mason Mount’s second-half goal, helping the Red Devils register a 4-1 win over Wolves.

Despite the solid performance, former Manchester United defender Paul Parker remained unimpressed by the 31-year-old.

Paul Parker slams Bruno Fernandes’ ‘poor decisions’ in the first half

Fernandes is currently United’s top playmaker with 6 assists and is only behind Bryan Mbeumo in scoring in 15 matches this season.

But that’s not enough for Parker, who grilled Fernandes for his poor decision-making during the first 45 minutes against Wolves.

“He was really poor in the first half, Fernandes. I know he got himself a goal. I mean, his poor decisions sometimes, he was giving the ball away far, far too cheaply.

But he got away with it, because his reaction to when he gives the ball away; sometimes he has to accept that when other players do it, he’s got to accept them as well sometimes,” Parker said, via Metro.

The ex-United defender added: “He looked absolutely terrible, but there you are.”

Parker wasn’t done yet as he questioned Fernandes’ position as the captain of the Premier League giants.

Bruno Fernandes is an ‘armband captain,’ says Paul Parker

It’s been nearly six years since Bruno joined the 13-time Premier League champions. Since then, Fernandes has become a central figure for the club.

On top of that, Fernandes has been the club’s captain since 2023, but Parker feels that El Magnifico has been reduced to just an armband captain right now.

“You don’t need an armband to be a leader, just somebody who wants more from other people. And that’s what he’s [Lisandro Martinez] done,” Parker continued.

“Fernandes doesn’t do that, he doesn’t give you that. He’s an armband captain because he’s seen as United’s most important player,” he concluded.

Instead, Parker hailed Lisandro Martinez as a better choice to lead the Red Devils over the Portuguese midfielder.
