Sam Allardyce told talkSPORT that he doesn’t think he will sign Andy Carroll because he doesn’t feel the Newcastle striker will be ‘available’.
The now West Brom boss worked with the boyhood Newcastle fan during his days at West Ham.
The Baggies are fighting for survival down the bottom, along with Newcastle, so it would be a surprise if they would even consider parting ways with their target man.
Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT, he asked the survival expert whether or not Carroll could be an option for him this month.
“No, I don’t think so,” said Allardyce. “I don’t think Andy would be available anyway because he’s up there at Newcastle where he loves.
“So, I cannot see Andy being available.”

Whilst Carroll doesn’t have the goalscoring threat he had many years ago, you could just see Allardyce getting the best out of the £75k-a-week player [Spotrac] if they were to have a reunion.
But given Newcastle’s situation if anyone is going to be walking out of the St James’ Park doors then it’s Steve Bruce.
The pressure is now well and truly mounting on the defensive-coach, who saw his side slump to an abject 3-0 defeat against Arsenal last night.
