Jose Enrique has given his verdict on the Kostas Tsimikas situation at Liverpool and the former defender can only assume that the player hasn’t been impressing Jurgen Klopp at the Axa Training Centre.

Liverpool spent £11.7 million on bringing in the Greece international left-back from Olympiacos last summer [Sky Sports].

With Andy Robertson being among Europe’s best players in his position, Tsimikas was always signed as a covering option to the Scot.

But even at that, the 24-year-old has barely kicked a ball for the Reds.

Tsimikas, who earns £60,000 per week on Merseyside, has quite literally only managed five minutes of Premier League under the Liverpool manager, having also started two Champions League group stage games.

And Enrique, himself a former left-back, has told Empire of the Kop that it’s clear to him that the defender – and January signing Ben Davies – hasn’t endeared himself to Klopp enough in training.

He said: “Listen, when he’s not playing it’s for a reason. That’s the reality. Robbo is one of the best left-backs in the world but like you say, why you [Klopp] don’t give him one game? Why he don’t give him more minutes, obviously because he’ll be seeing something in training that he doesn’t believe he deserves it. It’s like Davies.”
