The former England international was commentating on the Whites’ League Cup match against Doncaster.
Former Tottenham and Leeds United goalkeeper made a little bit of fashion faux pas as he observed the White’s League Cup tie at Doncaster Rovers, a tight match that could only be decided on penalties, with the Vikings victorious 4-2 after the match finished 1-1 at 120 minutes.
Though Robinson should have ideally been impartial during coverage of the match, it would be understood if he was to lean a little towards the Whites on the night considering he came through the Leeds academy as a youngster, not to mention that it was a derby cup match that would have surely urged any Yorkshireman to take sides.
So it was some surprise to see the ex England stopper sporting a dark blue tie with the Spurs logo of a cockerel standing on a football visible to the television cameras.
But whether he was holding true to a Tottenham allegiance that superseded that which he would have gained coming through the Elland Road youth setup, or whether he forgot that there was a tiny Spurs cockerel at the tip of the tie, Robinson was unintentionally a minor discussion point on the keen-sighted among those on social media.
We’ll have to see if anyone has the courage to ask the 35-year-old, recently released by Blackburn, whether it was a demonstration of loyalty or just a mishap. Or maybe he’s looking to take the place of Brad Friedel as third-choice veteran at White Hart Lane.
