Former Leeds United striker Enoch Showunmi has been discussing what the Whites need to do during the upcoming summer.

Former Leeds striker Enoch Showunmi has said in an interview with Through It All Together that the Whites’ best potential piece of business this summer would be keeping Chris Wood, while he would also like to see one of his old teammates brought back to Elland Road.
While other sides have got stuck in to the window, Leeds fans are still waiting for the club to kick into top gear, having so far only brought former loanee Hadi Sacko in on a permanent deal while they are also yet to appoint a new manager following Garry Monk’s departure.
Showunmi – who made 15 league appearances for Leeds between 2008 and 2010 – has offered his own opinion on what he would like to see the club do this summer, but suggested that the most important deal Leeds could do involves one of their current squad.
“Keeping Chris Wood would be the most important signing of the season. He has the potential to fire Leeds into the Premier League,” he told Through It All Together.
“Jonny Howson coming back would also galvanise the whole club. I played with him and saw first hand what a great player he is!”
It appears that Showunmi may get his wish regarding the potential return of Howson, as The Sun suggested last month that Andrea Radrizzani had made the midfielder the club’s number one target for this window.
Though Leeds’ midfield was strong last term, there is surely no doubt that the former captain coming back would be as positively received by the fans as it clearly would be by Showunmi.
And if they do manage to keep Wood, then it would be difficult to argue that the club will be on their way to enjoying a decent window – provided that they also make a good managerial appointment and make further improvements to the squad that agonisingly missed out on the play-offs last season.
