Marcus Antonsson scored his first goal since leaving Leeds United this summer.
It hasn’t been a very good last two years for ex-Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson.
The Swede joined Leeds in a £2 million deal from Kalmar in the summer of 2016 [The Yorkshire Evening Post] but barely played under then-Whites boss Garry Monk.
United then sent him on loan to Blackburn Rovers for the 2017-18 campaign but a lack of form and fitness prevented him from playing a huge role in their promotion-winning season.
Antonsson left Leeds to join Malmo earlier this summer and it hadn’t been looking a great return to Swedish football – until perhaps now.
The 27-year-old striker endured a seven-match barren spell in front of goal but ended that on Saturday.
He scored Malmo’s third goal in a 3-0 home win over Trelleborgs FF yesterday and he will hope that it’s the turning point.
Antonsson failed to justify his transfer fee at Leeds, but fans of the West Yorkshire side held him in high regard nonetheless and most of them will hope that he puts a difficult couple of years behind him and can start enjoying his football once more.
