The Leeds United star did not look happy to be subbed last weekend.

Jermaine Beckford has told LUTV that Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa will have warned Patrick Bamford over his reaction to being subbed this past weekend.

Bielsa hooked Bamford after 70 minutes of Sunday’s 2-0 win at Barnsley, with his replacement Eddie Nketiah going on to open the scoring for the visitors.

The former Middlesbrough star, a £10 million signing last summer [BBC Sport], cut a frustrated figure as he came off the field at Oakwell.

But former Leeds hitman Beckford read Bamford’s frustration as passion, though claims that Bielsa will have warned him about it nonetheless.

He told LUTV: ” It’s part and parcel of the game. He showed frustration, I see it as passion. The boss will have a chat with him about it, he will be told ‘do not do that again’. These things happen.”

Despite not scoring, Bamford, Leeds’ top goalscorer in the Championship, didn’t have a bad game by any means.

Being a striker, he will want to score as many as possible, but he’ll get days like Sunday and it’s important that he takes them on the chin.

The bottom line is that Bielsa has two very good strikers in the form of Bamford and Nketiah and so long as the team is thriving, the former won’t care too much.
