Former Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe stole the show for his new club on Sunday.
It’s been a slow start to life at Anderlecht for the 26-year-old hitman, who didn’t make his debut until September 25 due to injury, six weeks after signing for Vincent Kompany’s side.
But going by his performance last night, Roofe, who fetched £7 million for Leeds [The Sun], might have just arrived.
Kompany’s side thumped Sint-Truiden 4-1 at Lotto Park – an emphatic win that Roofe more than played a role in.
The Englishman grabbed two assists and a goal – his first for the club – in the victory.
Roofe, the Whites’ top goalscorer last season, was something of a fox-in-the-box under Marcelo Bielsa last term, and it was his movement which helped him score Anderlecht’s third of the night.
He made a darting run through the middle of the opposition defence to slide home Nacer Chadli’s teasing cross.
It was the sort of cunning that Leeds have been missing in recent weeks, with Patrick Bamford failing to score in almost two months, while Eddie Nketiah, who replaced Roofe at Elland Road, is without a goal since the 2-0 win over Barnsley on September 15.
