Ex-Leeds forward Matt Smith shares why he is very confident ahead of facing Thomas Christiansen’s side

Leeds United travel to face Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

Queens Park Rangers striker Matt Smith has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he thinks this weekend’s game against Leeds United will be ‘lively’.

The R’s head into Saturday’s game against Leeds having lost 1-0 away at Preston North End last weekend, with Jordan Hugill’s late goal sending Ian Holloway’s men home empty-handed.

With just one point taken in the last five games, QPR are struggling for form right now, and lie just six points clear of the Championship relegation zone.

Holloway desperately needs points, and this weekend, his side will take on Leeds United at Loftus Road as they attempt to finally get back to winning ways.

The Whites drew 1-1 at home with Aston Villa last weekend, and with seven points from their last four games, appear to be getting back on track under Thomas Christiansen.

Leeds went through a torrid run of form, and whilst they will hope that the worst is over, they will have to face one of their former players at Loftus Road this weekend.

QPR striker Matt Smith spent just one year with Leeds following a 2013 move from Oldham Athletic, hitting 13 goals in 43 games to earn a move to Fulham, with QPR snapping him up in January of this year.

Now, Smith has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he thinks this weekend’s game will be ‘lovely’, and thinks neither team will hold back, with QPR ‘very confident’ at home.

“It’s going to be lively. This is usually quite a defining period in the season and everyone wants to get momentum around Christmas,” said Smith.

“It’s been quite an unpredictable league so far with a few exceptions but it feels like it’s starting to take a bit of shape. We’re very confident at home but Leeds have shown what they can do. Neither team’s going to hold back,” he added.
