The young Leeds loanee has struggled to get regular game time at Port Vale recently.

Former Leeds United manager Steve Evans has praised the club’s young defender Tyler Denton.
Denton, who is usually deployed as a left-back but is also capable of playing as a left-winger, is currently on loan at Port Vale, but, despite featuring regularly for the League Two side earlier in the season, he has been used sparingly of late.
Evans takes his Mansfield side to face Port Vale tonight and was eager to praise Denton.

Evans, who managed Leeds in the 2015/16 season, told Mansfield’s official website: “The boy Denton out of Leeds is as good as anyone they’ve got in the camp and he’s not been featuring.”
Although he featured in the League Cup last season, Denton has yet to make a Championship appearance for Leeds and his current predicament, where he isn’t playing regularly for Port Vale, certainly won’t help his cause in attempting to make the breakthrough at his parent club.

Denton’s current deal at Leeds runs until the summer of 2020, suggesting that he still has some time on his side to develop and try to establish himself in the side.
Leeds would certainly benefit from having an additional option at left-back, with Gaetano Berardi more suited to playing on the right side of the defence and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who is on loan from Manchester United, having not been heavily involved.
It appears, though, that Denton needs to be given more time to develop before he can be considered as a genuine option to fill the void.
