Former Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday defender Micky Gray picks the two clubs out as the Championship’s biggest underachievers this season.

Micky Gray thinks that both Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday are contenders for being the clubs who have underachieved the most in the Championship this season.
Leeds finished seventh in the table in 2016/17, while the Owls secured a playoff spot, but neither succeeded in building on that and actually regressed this time around.

The Whites ended up 13th and outside of the top half despite a final day 2-0 victory against QPR, while Wednesday were 15th after they too won their last match, thrashing Norwich City 5-1.
Both sides sacked their managers this term, with Thomas Christiansen lasting until February after being appointed in the summer and Carlos Carvalhal ended more than two years at Hillsborough when the Portuguese was dismissed on Christmas Eve.
Paul Heckingbottom and Jos Luhukay have since been hired as permanent successors to Christiansen and Carvalhal respectively.
Yet Gray, who played for both clubs during his career, thinks that much improvement is needed at the two Yorkshire sides ahead of the next campaign.

When asked who had been the most disappointing this term Gray, while speaking as a pundit on Football On 5: The Championship on Sunday night (06/05/2018), said: “I think there’s a few clubs that need to take a look at themselves and two of them are my old clubs.
“I think Leeds United need to improve. They’ve got to try and get themselves into the playoffs if they possibly can.
“Sheffield Wednesday, fantastic performance today but they have to get more consistent.”
