Stan Collymore has told The Sunday People (print edition, page 62, August 23, 2020) that Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne would be “perfect” for Liverpool.

The former Liverpool and England international striker believes that De Bruyne has not played for as big a club as the Reds despite turning out for Chelsea and City.

Collymore has added that the 29-year-old Belgium international midfielder can stamp his greatness on the game by leaving Pep Guardiola’s side and moving to Liverpool.

Collymore told The Sunday People (print edition, page 62, August 23, 2020): “De Bruyne hasn’t yet played for a massive club because Chelsea and Manchester City come with B-grade expectations.”

The former Liverpool striker added: “The only way he can really stamp his greatness on the game is by joining a club at which he’d have A* expectations and, at the height of his powers, there isn’t a better time for him to do that. De Bruyne would be the perfect fit for Liverpool.”

Unlikely Liverpool transfer

De Bruyne is one of the best midfielders on the planet and is a world-class player, and he would make Liverpool a much better team.

However, it is hard to see the former Chelsea midfielder switch clubs this summer.

City have no reason to sell and will demand a lot in transfer fee if Liverpool make a move.

De Bruyne himself may not be willing to move to Liverpool, as he is already at a big and ambitious club and is a key figure in Guardiola’s team.

City will be determined to reclaim the Premier League title from Liverpool next season.
