Rangers drew with Celtic at the weekend, but the gulf in class between the two sides has been plain for all to see this season.

Mo Johnstone – one of the very few players to have represented both Rangers and Celtic, explained how the Gers’ celebrations after taking a point from their game against the Hoops was a sad indictment of the their current plight, during an exclusive interview with the Daily Record.
Rangers have really struggled during their return to the Scottish Premiership, after their four year absence from the top flight, and have experienced a real baptism of fire.
They currently occupy third spot in the table – something that is quite clearly just not good enough for a club the size of Rangers, and new manager Pedro Caixinha really has his work cut-out if he is to bring the glory days back to Ibrox.
And Johnstone, who scored 31 goals for the Gers during a two year spell with the club, suggested that the Rangers players’ celebrations following Sunday’s draw with Celtic highlighted the gulf in class between the two sides, as quoted by the Daily Record:

“Rangers are so far behind it’s not even funny. It’s a little bit sad that Rangers are so happy with a draw. They really need to spend a bit of money, give the coach a little bit of finance and allow him to bring in better players to try and bridge this gap.”
With Brendan Rodgers’ side so far ahead in the league table, however, it will likely take more than just one transfer window for Caixinha to mould his side into one that can mount a sustained challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.
