Wales international legend and Liverpool hero Ian Rush has urged his former club to take a look at signing Gareth Bale, speaking to The Mirror.

The Real Madrid ace has missed key matches this season for club and country and there is speculation every summer that he could return to the Premier League.

Bale left Tottenham in 2013 for £86 million and he has gone on to win three Champions League medals along with one La Liga and one Copa del Rey.

He said: “Any English club would want Gareth Bale. Maybe Tottenham have first offer. I’d love to see him at Liverpool though. A world class player.

“We don’t know what will happen, but it would be great to see him back here [in the Premier League] and at Liverpool.”

Tottenham do have an option agreement as part of their sale which permits them 72 hours to match any offer made for Bale by a Premier League club.

This would ensure they are not caught cold by a Premier League rival swooping in for the Welshman.

Bale has always spoken well of Spurs since leaving the club and would be welcomed back with open arms.

Liverpool do not necessarily need another winger with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah two of the league’s best.

Instead they would be better off spending the money on a striker or a defender, even a goalkeeper, but if they got word Bale wanted to join, the Reds would at least have to contemplate the option.
