Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to take on Steven Whittaker’s new Hibernian team in August.

Steven Whittaker has confirmed to the Scottish Sun that he is not bothered about the reception he’ll get when he returns to Glasgow Rangers’ home stadium Ibrox with Hibernian.

Whittaker left Norwich City to join Hibs this summer, which means he is set to return to Rangers for the first time in the upcoming campaign.

Hibs are set to take on Rangers at Ibrox on August 12th.

And Whittaker admits that he could face boos, after his departure from the Glasgow side back in 2012.

“I did check to see when we were playing Rangers,” Whittaker admits. “It’ll be a good test for us and going back to play at stadiums like that is something we’ll look forward to.

“Whatever reception I get, I won’t let it bother me. I’m 33 now so I have experienced all the different kinds, whether you’re cheered or booed.

“That’s part of football and you just have to get on with it.”

Whittaker left Rangers at the height of the Light Blues’ financial difficulties, and some supporters of the Glasgow club still haven’t forgiven the right-back.

Whittaker was once a popular figure during his time representing Rangers, and he made 209 appearances for the Gers.

Whittaker was actually touted as a potential Rangers transfer target this summer, but opted to move to Hibs instead.

Hibs are looking to compete back in the top flight, after earning promotion last season.
