Ex-Everton defender Kevin Kilbane has admitted that ‘you don’t want Liverpool to have the success they have been getting’, but he did label Jurgen Klopp as an ‘absolute class act’.

The Reds ended the Premier League season on a staggering 97 points, but they still lost the title to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who registered just one more point than their rivals.

Added with that, Liverpool lost only one league game this season and will now be preparing for the Champions League final which takes place in Madrid on June 1st.

Speaking to Final Score on BBC One (12/05/2019 5:10 pm), BBC Sport pundit Kilbane praised Klopp for what he’s done at Anfield this season.

“He’s a class act,” Kilbane told Final Score. “It pains you to see, I’m an ex-Evertonian, you don’t want Liverpool to have the success they have been getting. But he is an absolute class act, Jurgen Klopp.”

It has been one of the most remarkable seasons from a Liverpool perspective because they have done everything in their power to try and dethrone one of the best teams to have graced English football.

The Merseyside club didn’t lose a game on home soil this season, whilst Allison received the golden glove award and Mo Salah and Sadio Mane shared the golden boot. Yet, they still found themselves as runners-up.

But Liverpool’s season isn’t over yet because they can create history next month when they take on Tottenham in the Champions League final in Madrid.

Klopp guided them to the final last season, but they were beaten by Real Madrid and the German will be hoping to go one step further this time around and help the club clinch its sixth European crown.
