Tim Cahill has congratulated his former Everton teammate Steven Pienaar, after he announced his retirement earlier this week.

Pienaar decided to hang up his boots, after what has been a stellar career.

Pienaar and Cahill arguably enjoyed the greatest success of their career at Goodison Park.

And the Australian international was keen to publicly message his teammate, to wish him well.

Cahill and Pienaar were at Everton in a spell which was one of the Toffees’ best in recent times.

The pair linked up at Everton between 2008 and 2012, and they were two of the Merseyside outfit’s most important attacking players.

Pienaar’s career also saw him represent the likes of Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 35-year-old finished up at Bidvest Wits back in South Africa, before calling time on his career.

Cahill, meanwhile, is still an active player and he has only recently signed for Championship side Millwall.
