Joleon Lescott of Sunderland looks on during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Sunderland at Selhurst Park on February 4, 2017 in London, England.

Former Everton man Joleon Lescott has suggested that he believes Liverpool are genuine title contenders now.

Liverpool have made some impressive additions this summer, with Brazilian goalkeeper Allison the latest to arrive.

And Lescott, who obviously prefers Everton to Liverpool, has admitted that he believes Jurgen Klopp’s side could be a major threat in the upcoming campaign.

Everton fans had hoped that they would close the gap on Liverpool this season, but their summers so far have been in stark contrast.

Liverpool have added players in almost every position, with Klopp’s side looking much stronger now.

Joleon Lescott of Sunderland warms up prior to the Premier League match between Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur at Stadium of Light on January 31, 2017 in Sunderland, England.

Everton, on the other hand, have just faced a summer of struggle, as they have failed to bring their targets in.

Marco Silva’s side are yet to make a signing, with the new season edging ever closer.

Liverpool kick their campaign off with a match against West Ham United, while Everton face Wolves.
