Everton were linked with the midfielder before he punted for Arsenal nine years ago.
Former Everton boss David Moyes has told Football London that he tried to bring Aaron Ramsey to Goodison Park before Arsenal signed him.
The Wales midfielder joined Arsenal for £4.8 million back in 2008 as Arsene Wenger beat out Manchester United for his signature.
It was rumoured at the time that Ramsey had also met with officials from Everton about the prospect of moving to Merseyside.
And Moyes, now at West Ham United, has confirmed to Football London that he’s a big fan of the 26-year-old.
He said: “I really like Ramsey, tried to sign him at Everton before he went to Arsenal and he has turned out to be terrific.”
Indeed, Ramsey has been a mainstay in Arsenal’s first team since 2011 and it’s obvious that Wenger is also a massive fan of the Wales international.
Everton could do with a box-to-box midfielder of his ilk now, with Davy Klaassen struggling to justify his big-money move to Goodison in the summer.
But Ramsey won’t come up against Moyes’s West Ham at the London Stadium tonight after suffering a hamstring injury.
