Ex-England boss admits it would be his ‘dream’ to manage Liverpool, raves about Klopp

Sven-Goran Eriksson has told the Football Show on Sky Sports News (17/11/20 at 11:30 am) that it would be his ‘dream’ to manage Liverpool.

The former England boss shared that he has been supporting Liverpool ‘all his life’, as he praised Jurgen Klopp for the job he has done on Merseyside.

Liverpool ended their long-awaited Premier League trophy drought last season when they became champions of England for the first time in 30 years.

Sven is best known for his time as England boss, as he shared his thoughts on Klopp and the two ‘dream’ jobs he would love to take at both club and international level.

“Klopp, the Liverpool manager [I admire the most],” said Sven. “I think the job he has done with Liverpool lately, and I am not talking about last season, but even the season before is great.

“The team is playing extremely good football. He makes them work very, very hard and you can see that in games. And they are winning titles.

“To take Liverpool to win again after how many years to win the Premier League, that’s great. I think he has made Liverpool to what they were once many years ago and I hope they stay there.

On his dream job: “You know I have always been a Liverpool supporter in all my life since I was four, five, six-years-old. Like my father, he is still a Liverpool supporter.

“So, that would be [my dream] to manage Liverpool, of course. But I had a second dream as well and that’s to be the manager of Brazil.”

In terms of the Premier League, Sven did manage Manchester City, but that job came about before the money was pumped into the club and they became a big club.

If Sven understood how to play Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes in the same team without hooking one of them on the wing then maybe things could have been different for the Swede.

But all of that is in the history books now and two of the above players are now facing that very same heat as their former national boss at Rangers and Chelsea, respectively.
