Ex-director shares Tottenham man’s been watched since his last club after yesterday’s move

Ralf Rangnick has shared to Sky Sports (05/10/20 at 11:30 am) that Ryan Sessegnon is a player who has been watched since his Fulham days following his move away from Tottenham on deadline day.

The former RB Leipzig Sporting Director believes Sessegnon has made the right choice in making a season-long loan switch to Hoffenheim because they need a player of his qualities in their team.

Sessegnon moved to Tottenham last summer, but during his time in North London, injuries, lack of game time and form have all resulted in him struggling to settle in.

But Rangnick thinks Sessegnon’s decision to move to Germany is one that suits all parties.

“This transfer makes a lot of sense for Hoffenheim,” Rangnick told Sky Sports. “They could do with a wing-back or a left-back if you play with a back four and he can play both positions.

“We have been watching him for the last couple of years when he was at Fulham. Since he’s not playing regularly at Tottenham. I think this move makes sense for both clubs. For Tottenham and Hoffenheim. But also for the player himself.”

During his days at Fulham, Sessegnon was ripping it up in the Championship by showcasing his natural ability to score goals.

The ease in which he would carry the ball and find space in the penalty area was mightily impressive for a player who was just a teenager at the time.

He hasn’t been able to showcase those talents to the Spurs fans, but a move to Germany will provide him with the much-needed game time to progress to the next level.
