Harry Kane has been in devastating form again for Tottenham Hotspur this season – but he still has work to do to win over everyone.

It’s remarkable to think that, after 94 goals in three Premier League seasons and successive Golden Boots, there are still those who doubt Harry Kane.

On the bare statistics alone, Tottenham’s number ten is right up there with Robert Lewandowski, Gonzalo Higuain and co in Europe’s pantheon of great centre-forwards.

And though Kane didn’t get on the scoresheet for once during Spurs’ thrilling 3-1 hammering of Real Madrid on Wednesday, he showed that he is far more than a goalscorer, dominating the visiting centre-halves and putting the third goal on a plate for Christian Eriksen.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf, then, appears to be a hard man to please – though Spurs’ two-goal hero Dele Alli did at least catch his eye.

“Kane had a solid game but I’m still dubious about his technique. Everyone thinks he’s going to become a great player but I think he’s rather limited technically,” Leboeuf, who played for Chelsea between 1996 and 2001, told SFR Sport.

“He does have strength and power about him, and he gifts that third goal to Eriksen, but yeah. Dele Alli (below) really impressed me”.

Kane may not be the kind of centre forward to tie opponents in knots with a mazy dribble or score with a piece of Olympic grade gymnastics but there surely can be no doubting his effectiveness after three prolific years in Spurs’ first-team.

Until Kane starts matching the feats of the Messis, the Ronaldos and the Suarezs of the world, however, there will always be some willing to put him on the shelf below.
