Graham Potter has rejected the chance to become the new Sweden manager almost eight months since leaving Chelsea.
Sweden have failed with an ambitious move for ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter following the exit of Janne Andersson.
That is according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, who claim that Potter has been contacted for the Sweden job.
Sweden have missed out on qualification for Euro 2024 and boss Janne Andersson is on his way out.
Andersson had an emotional farewell on Sunday, saying goodbye after a 2-0 home win over Estonia as the search for his successor begins.
Graham Potter rejects Sweden job
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet now report that the Swedish FA have approached Graham Potter with a view to taking the job.
Potter is still highly admired in Sweden after his work in charge of Ostersund.
Potter spent over seven years in charge of Ostersund and guided the club from the fourth tier to the Europa League.
Now out of work having been sacked by Chelsea in April, Potter has been offered a chance to return to Sweden.
However, Potter has rejected the offer, believing that he still has plenty to offer in club management rather than heading into the international scene.
This was always going to be an ambitious approach but Sweden took the angle of ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t get’ – and Potter has decided that the job just isn’t for him.

Dejan Kulusevski and co need a new manager
Potter decided not to take the job but Sweden do have some exciting players who will appeal to many managers out there.
Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski is only 23 and should be a vital player for Sweden for years to come.
Kulusevski already has 35 caps for Sweden and any new manager should be looking to build the team around him.
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof captains the side whilst former United wide man Anthony Elanga will be in the mix for a long time.
Strikers Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak are both regular goalscorers at club level and still have bags of potential.
Serie A talents Isak Hein, Emil Holm, Jesper Karlsson and Jens Cajuste have room to develop in the coming years and Wolfsburg ace Mattias Svanberg should thrive going forward.
There is a lot to work with in this Sweden squad and whilst Potter wasn’t keen, somebody will jump at the opportunity.
