The former Celtic winger has earned rave reviews in Spain.

Celtic fans were left disappointed in the summer when it was revealed that Patrick Roberts wouldn’t be returning to Parkhead.

The Manchester City winger had two brilliant loan spells at Celtic after being signed by Ronny Deila in 2016, but elected to join La Liga side Girona.

It was an indifferent start to life in Spain for the 21-year-old, who had to wait until November to start his first Primera Division game for the club.

But it certainly seems as if the former Hoops star is finally beginning to thrive.

Roberts impressed Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid and was given rave reviews by Spanish outlet Marca.

In it, Roberts was described as ‘marvel’ and its readers were told to ‘remember the name’, according to The Scottish Sun.

The Sky Blues starlet has started Girona’s last four games – two wins and two draws – and Celtic fans will be delighted with his progress.

Although Roberts was a popular figure in Glasgow, Brendan Rodgers’s side haven’t missed him. James Forrest has taken his game to new heights entirely and it’s perfectly plausible to suggest that Roberts wouldn’t get regular football under Rodgers now – well, not at the expense of Forrest anyway.
