Big players from Celtic and Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could reportedly leave the Scottish Premiership this summer.
Massimo Donati has told The Sunday Post that he is interested to see how Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata and Rangers’ Bruno Alves would fare in Italy.
According to Italian publication Radio Sei, Lazio are keen on the Celtic man and could pay as much as £7 million to sign him, having impressed in the World Cup with Belgium this summer.
Meanwhile, Rangers could be about to lose Alves who, according to Sky Sports, underwent a medical with Parma last week.
The 96-cap Portugal international struggled during his first season at Ibrox last term, despite his pedigree, while the same could be said for Boyata who occasionally incurred the wrath of Celtic fans.
Donati, who spent two years at Parkhead, reckons that the Belgian is far too prone to lapses in concentration, and believes Alves quitting the Gers ‘makes sense’ at this stage in his career.
“Defensively he [Boyata] switches off too often in games, which is something he has to improve on,” he told The Sunday Post.
“Overall, I thought he did very well at Celtic and I think he should be suited to Serie A because, as well as his physique, he also has great feet.
“Brendan Rodgers is a great coach, and I think he has brought Boyata on a lot during his time in Scotland.”
On the Rangers man, the former Italian defender added: “Alves to Parma makes sense to me because he’s no longer a kid and last season he did not do very well with Rangers. However, it was not just his fault. Everything went wrong at the club and there was so much confusion.
“I’m curious to see how both he and Boyata get on in Italy.”
Alves, who has previously played for Porto, Zenit and Fenerbahce, is clearly a brilliant defender but perhaps the pressure and expectation at Rangers affected him. Injuries didn’t help much either in fact, but Parma could be a good move for the towering centre-back.
