The ex-Celtic manager was thought to have strengthened Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers this week.
Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that he had very little involvement in Andy King’s move to Rangers.
The Gers announced that they had signed the Leicester City midfielder on a season-long loan earlier this week.
It went down very poorly with Celtic fans by virtue of the fact that Rodgers, in charge of the Hoops for two-and-a-half years, was accused of strengthening Rangers, their Old Firm rivals.
But the Leicester manager is adamant that he didn’t know about the deal until it was more or less done.
“I wasn’t aware of it until he was having his medical. It was just something that happened very quickly,” he told The Scottish Sun.
Former Celtic Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton is pulling the strings on transfer-related matters at The King Power Stadium, but even still, it seems unlikely that Rodgers, the manager, had no input in the decision to loan him to Rangers.
King is a top player and one who will definitely strengthen Steven Gerrard’s side, having won the Premier League title with the Foxes three years ago.
The 30-year-old might not have been a huge part of Rodgers’s plans, but the Northern Irishman and Congerton worked closely alongside one another on transfers at Parkhead and the idea of him being kept out of the loop on King to Ibrox seems bizarre.
